Life lost in patriotism: Student dies of electric shock while lowering the flag. photo awakening
Jagran correspondent, Angul. The excitement of Republic Day turned into mourning in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district when a student died due to electrocution while lowering the national flag. The accident took place in Samagol area of Kujang police station area, where a Class 10 student was lowering the flag inspired by the spirit of patriotism.
According to the information, the national flag was hoisted on the roof of a private coaching center in the morning. In the evening, when the student started taking down the flag, the iron pipe came in contact with the high tension electric wire passing nearby. Due to this the student got a strong electric shock and he collapsed on the spot.
After the incident, people present nearby immediately took the student to Kujang Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased student has been identified as Om Prakash Dwivedi, who was studying at the coaching center and was staying at his maternal uncle's house.
As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and started investigation. The police have taken the coaching center operator into custody and started questioning. Initial investigation has revealed disregard for safety standards.
There is a wave of mourning in the area due to this painful accident. The family members are in bad condition and crying. Local people have demanded strict action from the administration against those responsible.
