Controversy intensifies over illegal tombs in King George Medical University campus

Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow: In order to demolish illegal constructions in big medical and other educational institutions of Uttar Pradesh, now the tombs will also be removed from King George Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow.

KGMU administration has pasted a notice to remove the tombs built in the courtyard. Describing the tombs as illegal construction, those responsible have been asked to remove them within 15 days. The controversy regarding illegal tombs in the King George Medical University campus has intensified.

The King George Medical University administration has declared the tombs in the courtyard complex as illegal construction and has ordered action to remove them. The letter to remove the tombs constructed behind the Microbiology Department in the King George Medical University campus has been issued by Nodal Officer Land Acquisition Professor KK Singh. Along with this, District Magistrate and Police Commissioner Lucknow have also been informed about this matter.

It is clearly written in the notice that if the tombs are not removed within the stipulated time i.e. 15 days, the tombs will be removed with the help of police force. Not only this, the cost of demolition will also be recovered from those responsible. Through the notice of KGMU, strict action has also been warned against those who preserve the tombs. The KGMU administration has taken this step citing the rules for demolishing illegal constructions.

BJP's Uttar Pradesh state minister and Yuva Morcha leader Abhijat Mishra had yesterday written a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath demanding immediate removal of these structures. He alleged that illegal constructions were endangering the security of the institute. These are creating obstacles in health facilities, have become centers of violent incidents and activities like fundamentalism and love jihad are being promoted from here. There are six-seven illegal tombs built in KGMU, some of which are also in the trauma center area. Abhijat Mishra said that these are encroachments on government land.
