Anurag Aggarwal, Panchkula. The government has given permission to the State Election Commission to conduct elections in seven urban bodies including three municipal corporations. The tenure of seven urban bodies in the state including Panchkula, Ambala and Sonipat municipal corporations has been completed. The State Election Commission had written a letter to the government seeking permission to conduct elections. Urban body elections are possible in the last week of March or the first week of April.

BJP and Congress have already announced to contest the elections on the symbol of all three municipal corporations. INLD, JJP and Aam Aadmi Party have not yet opened their cards regarding these elections. Apart from Panchkula, Ambala and Sonipat municipal corporations, civic elections are proposed to be held in Rewari Municipal Council, Dharuhera, Sampana and Uklana municipalities.

In the letter sent by the Urban Bodies Department to the State Election Commission on Tuesday, it has been said that the Haryana Government has no objection in holding by-elections at some places including the general elections of three Municipal Corporations, one Municipal Council and three Municipal Corporations.

Elections will be held in the last week of March or the first week of April. The state government gave permission to the State Election Commission. The government issued instructions to 12 district deputy commissioners. In its letter, the government said in Ambala, Panchkula, Sonipat, Rewari, Rohtak, Hisar, Fatehabad,

District Deputy Commissioners of Jhajjar, Kaithal, Karnal, Mahendragarh and Yamunanagar have been directed to provide necessary staff to the State Election Commission so that the process of general elections and by-elections can be completed smoothly on time.

Apart from this, necessary instructions have also been issued to the Director General of the Urban Local Bodies Department and the Commissioners of the concerned Municipal Corporations/Municipal Committees.

One corporation will be reserved for BC-B women, by-elections in six wards

After completion of the tenure of Panchkula, Ambala and Sonipat corporations, administrators have been appointed there. Apart from Rewari Municipal Council, general elections of Sampla, Uklana and Dharuhera Municipalities will also be held during this period. Out of the three municipal corporations, one post of Mayor will be reserved for a woman of BC-B category.
