State Bureau, New Delhi. The Central Government has approved the construction of two new railway lines between Delhi and Ambala on the Delhi-Jammu route. This is an important railway section connecting Delhi to the states of North India.

Two new railway lines will improve train operations on this section. This will improve the rail connectivity of Delhi to Haryana as well as Punjab, Jammu Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. With the promotion of tourism, freight transportation will increase. It will also help in environmental protection.

There is more load on the Delhi to Ambala railway section. Many local trains run from Delhi to Panipat, Kurukshetra and other cities of Haryana. Along with this, many long distance trains including Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Vande Bharat operate on this railway section. Now train connectivity is available from Delhi to Srinagar. Due to this, the number of trains will increase in the coming days.

Keeping this in mind, there is a demand to lay a new railway line on this section. The government has approved the construction of the third and fourth lines in the 194 km railway section. It will be completed in four years at a cost of Rs 5983 crore. Two rail over bridges and 79 rail under bridges will be built on this route.

Railway officials say that reducing the load on the tracks will help in running the trains on time. The problem of increasing speed capacity will be resolved. It will be easier for tourists visiting major tourist places like Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Srinagar, Jammu, Shimla.

Along with the supply of coal to the thermal power plants located in North India, the problem of transportation of goods from agricultural warehouses and other industrial units will be removed. This will help in reducing vehicles on the roads.

It is estimated that completion of this project will reduce 43 crore kg carbon dioxide emissions per year. This will be equivalent to planting 1.7 crore trees.
