Ban On Meat Shops Within 10 Km Radius Of Noida Airport, Fine Of Rs 1 Crore And 3 Years Jail For Non-compliance

In view of the safety of aircraft from birds, there will be a complete ban on slaughter of animals, garbage and filth.

Manoj Kumar Sharma, Jeweller. Before the operation of Noida International Airport, preparations have been intensified regarding the security of aircraft at the airport. Under the Indian Aircraft Act, there is a complete ban on slaughter of animals, accumulation of garbage and other polluting or objectionable substances within a radius of 10 km from the Aerodrome Reference Point of the airport.

Also, materials coming from meat shops and bone processing mills in the area which attract or are likely to attract birds and animals are completely banned within a radius of ten kilometers.

The construction work of Noida International Airport has been completed, the aerodrome license is awaited before its operation. In order to ensure that there is no lapse at any level regarding the safety of the aircraft arriving at the airport and the passengers boarding them, the Environment Management Committee has decided to strictly enforce the rules regarding safety.

There are strict rules under clause ZB of sub-section (2) of Section 10 of the Indian Aircraft Act 2024 to deal with the threat of bird strike with aircraft within a radius of 10 km from the Aerodrome Reference Point. Under the rules, slaughtering and skinning of animals and disposal of garbage, filth or other polluted and foul smelling items are completely prohibited in the restricted area.

To strictly enforce the rules, the local body Yumna Authority has put up public information boards at various places to stop such activities. Despite this, if someone violates the rules, if found guilty, he can be punished with imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of up to Rs 1 crore or both.

There are 100 meat shops within 10 kilometers of the airport.

Even though only eight shops are operating in the records of the Food Safety Department, more than 100 shops are operating within a radius of ten kilometers on the spot. Meat is being sold at more than a dozen shops at the cargo village gate of the airport alone.

In most places, after slaughtering animals, their remains are thrown in the open. In such a situation, it will be a big challenge for those responsible to stop the birds getting attracted towards meat.

A total of eight shops have licenses to sell meat and fish in and around the airport. Challan action has also been taken against two shopkeepers running open shops. All will be closed after detailed guidelines come.
