Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. Bank Holidays: Banks may remain closed for four consecutive days in the last week of this month. Such a situation has arisen because the talks held on Wednesday in the meeting of bank unions with the Indian Banks Association (IBA) regarding the proposed strike of banks on January 27 remained inconclusive.

In fact, before the strike, there is a holiday on 24th January, the fourth Saturday, 25th January on Sunday and 26th January, which is Republic Day. The bank strike is announced on the next day. Due to which banks may remain closed for four consecutive days in the last week of January.

National Secretary of All India Bank Officers Association, DN Trivedi, said that apart from the second and fourth Saturdays, no decision could be taken in the meeting on the holiday of remaining Saturdays and the talks remained inconclusive.

IBA said that they agree in principle but the final decision has to be taken by the Government of India. He also said that two years ago, at the time of 12th bilateral wage revision, IBA had given in-principle consent, but the Central Government has not yet taken a final decision on it, due to which the bank employees are adamant on going on strike.
