In the video, Kashmir-bound Vande Bharat is seen speeding through the snow and moving towards its destination. Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav has also posted its video on social media.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Jammu Division, Utkari Singhal said that no train has been cancelled. Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat is running despite snow. Due to snowfall and strong winds, power supply was affected due to breaking of electric poles and wires in many areas of the state. Many houses have also been damaged due to falling trees.

Aircraft movement remained closed at Srinagar International Airport due to lack of visibility and accumulation of snow on the runway. Traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was also closed near Navyug Tunnel due to heavy snowfall. Vehicles stuck on the way are being taken to safe places. Srinagar-Sonmarg-Gumri road and Sinthan road also remained closed. Roads in Doda, Kishtwar, Baramulla-Kupwara and Bandipora, Anantnag-Shopian-Kulgam are closed after snowfall.

Snowfall alert on Republic Day

At the same time, the Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of rain and snowfall on 26 and 27 January. Due to the activity of Western Disturbance, the weather had started changing since Thursday evening and when people in Kashmir opened the windows of their houses on Friday morning, there was a sheet of white snow spread in the courtyard.

In Kashmir, three to five feet of snow has fallen in the high mountain areas including Gulmarg, Yusmarg, Sonmarg, which was enjoyed by the tourists. Snowfall continued till late evening in all the highland areas. Here, continuous rainfall since Thursday night caused waterlogging at some places in Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Akhnoor, Ramban, Reasi and Udhampur.
