Dialogue partner, Jagran Banda. Angered by not getting a four-wheeler Creta car as additional dowry, the in-laws beat up the married woman and subjected her to inhuman torture. Based on the complaint of the victim, Mahila Thana police has registered a case against her husband and five in-laws under dowry harassment and other serious sections and started investigation.
Rajabhaiya Sahu, resident of Madhiyanaka Mohalla of Atarra Nagar, married his daughter Radha Sahu with Manish Sahu, resident of Bisanda, on 22 April 2022. The victim alleges that within a few days of the marriage, the husband and other in-laws started demanding a Creta car as additional dowry.
The in-laws started harassing her even more when she said that the financial condition of her mother's house was weak and there would be a debt at the time of marriage. It is alleged that husband Manish, father-in-law Santosh, mother-in-law Rajeshwari, brother-in-law Satish and sister-in-law Priyanka used to beat her daily. On the night of 25th January, all the in-laws unanimously reached the room, abused the victim and beat her by stuffing a cloth in her mouth.
Crossing the limits of cruelty, the husband burnt the victim with a cigarette and the mother-in-law with hot tongs. During this time everyone kept threatening to kill her and remarry her. The victim reached the women's police station last Sunday and lodged a complaint, on which the police registered a case and started investigation.
