Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. Two students of Rama University, who ran their car over policemen on Tuesday to avoid checking at Ganga Barrage, have been arrested. There were a total of five people in the car, all of whom are B.Tech students. Even before ramming the car on the policemen, the students had purchased liquor by paying through UPI from a liquor vend located near the barrage. CCTV footage of which has come, the surveillance team arrested one student through UPI, connecting the links, recovered the car and arrested both the students while three are still absconding. The girl student had given the car for service at the showroom company located in Fazalganj.

On Tuesday evening, Kohna police station in-charge Prateek Singh was checking with the traffic police by putting barricades on the Ganga barrage. Then, in order to escape from the checking, a speeding car coming from Unnao tried to run over Atal Ghat outpost in-charge Sanjay Kumar, Inspector Puran Singh and Home Guard Hariprakash. In which Inspector Puran Singh's left leg was broken. The Kohana police involved in the investigation failed to find the car, after which five teams were formed under the leadership of DCP Central Shravan Kumar Singh.

A WhatsApp group of teams engaged in uncovering the incident was formed, which was monitored by DCP Central. Five teams were sent in different directions, after which footage was found of students buying liquor from a shop at a barrage. In which Abhijeet Chaturvedi, resident of Champatpur, Bidhnu, paid for the liquor through UPI. After which the police reached him through surveillance and along with arresting him, also arrested his associate Shyam Sundar, resident of Mahavan Soukkheda of Mathura.

Both are B.Tech final year students from Rama University. The absconding associates include five people including Himanshu Mishra of Chitrakoot district and Prashant of Bihar. The car is registered in the name of Vishnudatt Mishra, father of absconding student Himanshu. Both the students arrested on Saturday also have to appear for the examination. Joint Police Commissioner Law and Order Ashutosh Kumar said that all the accused students committed the incident while drunk to escape from the police and they do not have any criminal history, a case has been registered against all of them for culpable homicide.
