Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. For the first time, CCTV cameras are being installed in the Red Fort complex for security and surveillance. The decision was stuck for almost seven years as the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had raised objections fearing damage to the historical structure. This plan was stalled for a long time due to opposition from ASI, but the terrorist attack (car bomb blast) around the Red Fort on 10 November 2025 changed the situation.

Many people lost their lives and dozens were injured in this attack, after which ASI withdrew its objections, giving priority to security. The decision took several rounds of meetings between officials of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), ASI, Delhi Police, CISF (which handles the internal security of the Red Fort) and Home Ministry. A total of 150 CCTV cameras are being installed in the first phase, which will cover any dark corners on the campus. Additionally, high-mast floodlights will also be installed in nearby parks.

Historical monuments secured and equipped with modern surveillance

This step is a big change towards strengthening the security of the Red Fort. After the attack, security arrangements have been tightened in Delhi, so that any such incident can be prevented in future. Officials say that the work will be completed soon, which will make this historical monument safe and equipped with modern surveillance.
