Risk of accident increases on NH-20
Samvad Sutra, Akbarpur (Nawada). The continuous dense fog and increasing cold in Akbarpur block area for the last two days has badly affected the normal life. Visibility is becoming so low in the morning that till around 8 o'clock the drivers have to move on the road only with headlights on.
Due to fog, the speed of vehicles has slowed down due to lack of clear view ahead on the roads, due to which passengers as well as drivers are forced to drive in an atmosphere of fear and confusion.
Difficulty occurs due to dense fog
The matter of greatest concern remains near the Barev Adda turn located on National Highway No. 20, where there is a constant possibility of an accident due to the crossing on the road. Vehicles coming from Govindpur have to cross the road here and go in the direction of Nawada.
Due to dense fog, it is difficult to predict the vehicles coming from the front, which can lead to a major road accident at any time.

Local people say that accidents have happened several times before at this turn, but the danger has increased due to fog. Similarly, there is a possibility of an accident due to lack of underpass or safe road crossing near Makhar village.
The villagers are forced to cross the road by jumping the divider, which is proving to be extremely risky. Local villagers have several times demanded the construction of a road crossing or underpass from the concerned departmental and zonal level officials, but till now no concrete initiative has been taken.
The situation is even more dangerous in foggy weather
This situation becomes even more dangerous during the foggy season. The effect of fog and cold is not limited to traffic only, but its widespread impact is also being seen on people's lives.
Children going to school in the morning, laborers going to work and people going to the market are facing a lot of problems. Due to cold, people are coming out of their homes late, due to which their daily activities are getting affected.
Demand for deployment of traffic police
Local citizens and drivers have demanded from the administration that concrete arrangements like warning boards, reflectors, street lights, speed breakers, safe road crossings and deployment of traffic police should be made near Barev Adda turn and Makhar village of NH-20, so that possible accidents occurring during fog can be curbed and safety of people's life and property can be ensured.
