By showing fear of digital arrest, cyber thugs made a retired District Agriculture Officer and his wife, residents of Mukund Nagar, Naurangabad Etah Chungi, their victims. Posing as police and judicial officers, the thugs showed the police station, court and arrest warrant through video call and defrauded about Rs 42 lakh. The victim's son has filed a case with the cyber police station.
The victim's son Shivam Kaushik told that his father Naththi Lal and mother Rajbala live alone in Mukund Nagar. He works in Greater Noida. He told that a day earlier his father told that on January 10, a call had come on his father's mobile. The caller told him that a SIM has been issued in his name. Due to which a current account has been opened.
Suspicious transactions of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 68 lakh have taken place in that account. FIR has been registered in this matter. Even an arrest warrant has been issued. Through video call, the accused created an atmosphere of fear in the police office room and made themselves an IPS officer.
Said that if he talked to anyone or went out of the house, he would be immediately arrested. The accused asked to keep the mobile's GPS on continuously along with monitoring their movements. Due to this fear, the victim couple came under mental pressure and did not tell anything to anyone.
The victim's son Shivam told that cyber thugs continuously mind washed his parents. He himself came home from Noida three to four times during this period. But the parents did not tell anything to anyone. When the father narrated the entire incident a day earlier, the fraud was revealed.
The thugs maintained constant contact with the father. After this, due to fear, the father transferred Rs 14 lakh on 28 January and Rs 28 lakh on 29 January to different accounts, totaling Rs 42 lakh through RTGS. On the complaint of the victim's family, a case has been registered in the cyber police station. Police are investigating digital evidence related to bank accounts, mobile numbers and video calls with the help of cyber cell.
