PTI, Hyderabad. At least five people are feared trapped after a massive fire broke out in a four-storey building in Nampally area of Telangana capital Hyderabad on Saturday afternoon.
Officials said that the building where the fire broke out housed shops of furniture and other goods. He said that fire brigade personnel, police, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other agencies personnel are carrying out the rescue operation. Hydraulic lifts are being used to reach the upper floors.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, who is monitoring the rescue operation, said efforts were underway to rescue the stranded people.
He said that although the fire has been brought under control, rescue workers are facing difficulty in going inside due to heavy smoke. There is a possibility of people being trapped on the second floor. Efforts are on to evacuate them.
