Despite continuous awareness campaigns and action taken by the police, the network of thugs is still spreading. The situation is such that due to the greed of profit, the people of Moradabad have lost about Rs 13 crore in the last ten months.
This figure is not only shocking, but also shows how cyber criminals are preying on people in new ways. This year, most of the cases of cyber fraud have come to light in the name of trading. Fraudsters are luring traders and businessmen of huge profits by pretending to be representatives of big investment companies, trading experts or online platforms.
Initially, trust is won by showing profits on small amounts and then large amounts are invested. As soon as the victim deposits a large amount of money into the account, the fraudsters lose contact and the money disappears. So far this year, 29 cases of fraud have been registered in the cyber police station, whereas 17 cases were registered in the same period last year.
While last year the total amount of fraud was around Rs 11 crore, this year this figure has increased to Rs 13 crore. It is clear from this that not only the number of fraud cases has increased, but the amount of fraud is also continuously increasing. According to the police, cyber criminals are taking advantage of the greedy mentality of people. Especially the business class and those people who want to earn quick profits are becoming easy victims of fraudsters.
The biggest fraud of Rs 1.64 crore took place in Moradabad.
The biggest fraud so far in the year 2025 is of Rs 1.64 crore. The swindlers had cheated Rs 1.64 crore from a businessman of Hawthorn area in the name of trading. In this case, the cyber police have arrested some accused after registering the FIR, but the main accused have not been arrested yet.
