Jagran correspondent, Sonipat. In Sanatan tradition, 'Holashtak' starts just eight days before the festival of colors, Holi. This year, Holashtak is starting from 07:03 am on 24th February, which will end with Holika Dahan on 3rd March. The period of these eight days is considered prohibited for auspicious works in astrology.
Astrologer Dr. According to Manmohan Mishra, during Holashtak, the nature of the planets of the universe becomes furious and the circulation of negative energy in the atmosphere increases. Mythological belief is that on this Ashtami Tithi, Lord Shiva had burnt Kamadeva to ashes in an attempt to break his penance.
Due to unfavorable planetary conditions, the 16 rituals performed during these days (like naming ceremony, sacred thread, marriage etc.) do not yield auspicious results. Dr. Mishra told that auspicious works can be started only after the end of Bhadra late night on March 2 and Holika Dahan during Pradosh period on March 3.
