Jagran correspondent, Greater Noida. To deal with the problem of waterlogging, the authority will now take the help of advanced technology like AI, sensors and real-time monitoring systems along with modern technology. In future, it will be ensured that water does not accumulate anywhere. The authority has taken this effort after the death of a three-year-old child in Dankaur and an engineer by drowning in the water filled in the plot dug for the basement in Noida Sector 150.
To prevent such incidents in future, the authority had identified more than 20 waterlogged places in the Greater Noida area last year, and has now sought suggestions for a permanent solution from consultant agency Arshia Consulting Engineering Pvt. Ltd.
In fact, many places in Greater Noida urban and rural areas get waterlogged during rains. There is also a risk of accident from ponds located amidst populated areas. Construction work also continues at the builders' sites.
In view of this, the authority has started work on a plan for a permanent solution to the problem of waterlogging. A drain is being constructed for water drainage. Necessary work will be done based on the suggestions of the consultant agency. It will be ensured that there is no problem of waterlogging anywhere.
The consulting agency has not yet given suggestions regarding some places. In such a situation, work regarding drainage is not being done. The incident of death of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta after his car fell into the water filled pit dug for the basement in Sector-150 of Noida last month and the death of three-year old innocent Devansh by drowning in a water filled pit near a religious place in Dalelgarh village of Dankaur last week, have led the authority officials to take action.
To ensure that such incidents do not recur, security measures have been intensified at accident-prone places. Other measures are being taken including filling of potholes and building walls along the banks of open drains. Barricading has been done as a precaution. According to the authority official, the waterlogged places are being reviewed to see what work has been done so far.
