Digital Desk, Bengaluru. Infosys CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh clarified during the company's third quarter earnings conference call on Wednesday that no Infosys employee was detained or deported by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

He termed the viral social media post as false, saying that a few months ago an employee was refused entry to the US and was sent back to India, but there was no detention or jail-like incident.

The post further alleged that the employee was escorted during flights to Frankfurt and Bengaluru, faced public humiliation and that company lawyers were present at the Bengaluru airport, adding that Infosys is planning legal action against the US authorities.

Parekh categorically refuted all these claims and said, "No Infosys employee has been detained by any US authority. A few months ago, an employee was denied entry to the US and was deported back to India." He dismissed the rumors spreading online and said that these claims are false.

The incident comes amid tightening of H-1B visa rules in the US for Indian IT companies, including higher fees, social media checks and lengthy processes, which is impacting on-site deployments.

Meanwhile, the series of deaths in the custody of American ICE is also in the headlines. According to the agency, four migrants died in custody in the first 10 days of 2026 alone, while at least 30 deaths were recorded in 2025 – the highest since the agency was established.

Questions are being raised over the agency's strategy after a protester was shot dead by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on January 7. Infosys has not confirmed any legal action in the matter and clarified that no detention incident took place.
