Sachchidananda, Medininagar (Palamu). The Postal Department has taken a new initiative in the direction of providing affordable and accessible health insurance facilities to the common people. After the agreement between India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and Niva Bupa Health Insurance, now post office customers will be able to easily get health insurance.
The objective of this initiative is to connect people especially from rural and economically weaker sections with health security. Under the ‘Swasth Jeevan Kavach Indemnity Health Insurance Plan’ launched by the Department of Posts, a comprehensive insurance cover is being provided at low premium.
Postal Superintendent of Palamu Postal Circle said that this scheme has been started keeping in mind better health protection of the common people. He said that a large number of people in rural areas are still deprived of health insurance, in view of which this initiative will prove to be very important.
You will get big insurance cover at low premium
Under this scheme, customers will be given a base health cover of up to Rs 2 lakh at an annual premium of just Rs 1699. Apart from this, super top-up cover up to Rs 15 lakh is also available at an annual premium of Rs 899.
By combining both the schemes, health insurance up to Rs 17 lakh can be availed by spending only Rs 2598 annually. If a person saves about seven rupees per day, he can ensure a huge health security cover for himself and his family by taking advantage of this scheme.
Health security will increase in rural areas
The network of the postal department extends to remote villages of the country. In such a situation, through this scheme, efforts are being made to provide health insurance facilities to those people, who till now were beyond the reach of banks or private insurance companies. He said that the Postal Department is continuously working towards providing better services to the people through new schemes.
Coverage of hospital expenses will also be available
This health insurance plan includes coverage of various types of expenses related to hospitalization. This will reduce the financial burden on common people in case of illness or accident.
This initiative of the Postal Department can prove to be a relief especially for the families of middle and low income group. The aim of the department is to increase the scope of health protection by connecting more and more people to this scheme.
