Investigation of suspicious ration cards intensified

Digital Desk, Patna. The Food and Consumer Protection Department has directed to speed up the process of checking suspicious ration cards in the state. Special Secretary of the department, Upendra Kumar, in the statewide review meeting organized through video conferencing, clearly told the officers that the pending cases should be disposed of on priority basis.

Sub-divisional officers of all the districts participated in the meeting. Special Duty Officer Srishti Priya was also present in the meeting. During the review, special emphasis was laid on transparency and time bound action.

Instructions to fill vacancies by 31st March

The Special Secretary directed to fill the pending vacancies in all the Public Distribution System (PDS) shops of the state by March 31. He said that beneficiaries should not face problems due to vacant posts in ration shops.

Officials were directed to maintain transparency in the selection process and only eligible candidates should be given opportunities. Also, it should be ensured that there is no unnecessary delay at any level.

License to eligible applicants till 30th April

The department clarified that after the completion of the selection process, licenses will be issued to the eligible applicants by April 30. This will further strengthen the public distribution system.

Officials were told that all the formalities should be completed within the stipulated time frame, so that food grains can be provided to the beneficiaries regularly and smoothly.

Instructions to speed up e-KYC work

According to departmental data, till now the e-KYC work of about 82 percent beneficiaries has been completed. Instructions have been given to complete the e-KYC of the remaining beneficiaries by March 31 under all circumstances.

The Special Secretary said that completion of e-KYC will help in identifying fake and ineligible ration cards and will ensure benefits to the genuine needy.

Emphasis on strengthening the monitoring system

Emphasis was laid on regular inspection through PDS Prakash App to ensure transparency. Officials were instructed to regularly monitor the shops through the app.

The objective of the department is to ensure that there is no irregularity in the public distribution system and that the benefits of the schemes reach the eligible beneficiaries on time. In the review meeting, special emphasis was laid on ensuring timely action and accountability.
