India should realize that mere concern expressed by it regarding the Hindus being tortured in Bangladesh is not going to help. In this matter, India will also have to take cooperation and support of the international community.
Ministry condemns the murder of Dipu Chandra Das
India will have to put pressure on Bangladesh
Fundamentalists are creating an atmosphere against India
It was good that the Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed the need to bring to justice those who brutally murdered Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh and to protect all minorities there, but that is not enough. India will also have to put pressure on Bangladesh to ensure protection of life and property of minorities and especially Hindus there.
It cannot be satisfied that those who beat Dipu Chandra Das to death and burnt his body in front of the crowd have been arrested, because this arrest took place when the video of this shocking and brutal incident went viral.
Hindus of Bangladesh are the target of fundamentalists because the incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken refuge in India and on this pretext fundamentalist forces are busy in creating an atmosphere against India. The worst effect of this environment is falling on the Hindus there. The Hindus of Bangladesh have been in danger for a long time. When Bangladesh was formed, there were about 15-16 percent Hindus there, but today their number has come down to less than eight percent.
It is a fact that Hindus were persecuted in East Pakistan also and even after this Pakistani region became Bangladesh. Since the persecution continues there, their migration is also not stopping. If the situation continues like this then the Hindus of Bangladesh may face the same miserable condition as that of Pakistan.
The interim government of Bangladesh may keep promising to protect all minorities including Hindus, but the fact is that after the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina government, the process of atrocities on Hindus did not stop even after the formation of the interim government and its command being taken over by Mohammad Yunus. In the last 16 months, many incidents of targeting Hindus have taken place in Bangladesh.
Along with their lives and property, their temples are also being targeted. This is happening because the fundamentalist forces which are doing all this have the support and protection of the interim government. Some such forces are even supporting this government. Among them is Jamaat-e-Islami, which is infamous for its anti-India stance. India should realize that mere concern expressed by it regarding the Hindus being tortured in Bangladesh is not going to help. In this matter, India will also have to take cooperation and support of the international community.
