Jamui Fire Case: 5 Year Old Girl Lit Matchbox While Playing, Brother And Sister Died Due To Straw Fire

Samvad Sutra, Barhat (Jamui). Two innocent children died tragically after being burnt in a fire in Kumartari village of Barhat police station area on Friday. The deceased have been identified as village resident Vijay Koda's five-year-old daughter Anita Kumari and one-year-old son Manish Kumar. After the incident, a wave of mourning has spread in the entire village.

It is said that on Friday afternoon, Vijay Koda's wife had gone to the river with the children to clean utensils. During this time he left all the children in the barn. While playing, the children noticed the matchbox kept in a hut-like structure built in the barn. Five-year-old Anita lit a matchstick, which set fire to the straw kept nearby.

Within no time the fire engulfed the entire hut. While trying to save her younger brother who was surrounded by fire, Anita also got caught in the fire. At the same time, another child standing nearby, seeing both of them burning, ran towards the river to call his mother. By the time the mother and people nearby reached the spot, both the brothers and sisters were badly burnt. Later, with the help of villagers, the bodies of both were brought home.

Assistance amount received by family members

Barhat police station was informed about the incident on Saturday morning. As soon as the information was received, Police Station Head Kumar Sanjeev, SI Suman Kumari and Shubham Jha reached the spot along with the police force and after necessary paperwork, both the bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

Here, Mukhiya Jitni Devi provided financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to the victim's family for the last rites. Police Station Head Kumar Sanjeev said that information about the incident was received on Saturday morning. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and every possible effort will be made to provide government assistance to the victim's family.
