Jagran correspondent, Prayagraj. Today, on the occasion of Maghi Purnima festival, a huge crowd of bathers, Kalpavasis and Saint Mahatmas have gathered on the banks of Sangam in Tirtharaj Prayag. Bathing has also started from dawn at other ghats of river Ganga in the fair area. Those who took the dip of faith prayed to Mother Ganga for their wishes to be fulfilled and took the bath enthusiastically.

The largest crowd gathered to take a dip in the Sangam. Police personnel from the watch tower kept making continuous announcements to control the crowd of bathers, instructions were given not to stand unnecessarily on the ghat, police and fair administration officials stayed at the Sangam nose and took the reins of making the Maghi Purnima bathing festival complete safely.

Magh Mela area is graced with Kalpavasis, pilgrims, saint mahatmas and other devotees. On Sunday, all of them hoisted the Sanatan flag showing their enthusiasm. Lakhs of people started gathering in the fair area from midnight itself. The crowd started moving towards Sangam from almost all the routes. The crowd kept increasing continuously on Sangam Marg.

Women, children, old people, all were seen eager to take bath in Sangam. There were police barricades at various places, however, there was no hindrance for the bathers. The police personnel kept telling people the way to Sangam by blowing whistles, although the vehicles were stopped at the barricades.

The bathing sequence started from around 4 o'clock in the morning and as the sun rose and the light gradually spread, the crowd started increasing. AI based cameras installed at various places by the fair authority kept counting the bathers, while senior officials and civil defense volunteers also remained on duty to ease the way for the devotees.

People who are doing Kalpavas on the sands of Sangam on Paush Purnima will return home from today. A large number of people who came from all over the country fulfilled the resolution of Kalpavas and today reached Sangam and the ghats around their camps, took a bath in the Ganga and offered water to the Sun God and wished for their wishes to be fulfilled.
