On the orders of NGT, to stop illegal mining in Yamuna River in the area, Additional District Magistrate Saurabh Bhatt along with Mining Officer Saurabh Chaturvedi raided illegal mining on the banks of Yamuna River in Loni on Saturday night.
The team found illegal mining being done with three machines in the Delhi border on the river bank, seven kilometers from the Ghaziabad border. Local villagers told that a valid lease has been given for mining in village Pachaira, but under the guise of this lease, the mafia is doing illegal mining towards the Delhi border.
An alternative route was also made from Burari police station area to transport the mined material. Additional District Magistrate said that in order to immediately stop the illegal mining taking place on the spot, the Delhi authorities were contacted and three seized JCB machines were handed over to the post Burari.
