The administration has announced to launch a more stringent campaign in future against those violating the rules.
Jagran correspondent, Jammu. Once again the strictness of the administration regarding food security has been seen in Jammu city. During the checking campaign being conducted by Jammu Police in the bus stand police station area, a case came to light which exposed the blatant disregard for food safety standards.
During investigation, the police stopped a vehicle in which a large quantity of non-vegetarian food was being transported, but the vehicle had no insulation and temperature control required as per food safety rules. There was dirt and smell inside the vehicle. The food was not even sealed.
Police officer says that this serious negligence is considered a big threat to public health. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a nominated officer of the Food Safety Department was called on the spot. Deputy Commissioner Food Safety Madan Magotra himself reached the bus stand and jointly inspected it with the police team led by station in-charge Bus Stand Inspector Inderpal Singh.
After completing all the legal formalities on the spot, action was initiated against the concerned vehicle and food items. It is being told that carrying non-vegetarian food without insulation can spoil the food quickly, which increases the risk of food poisoning, infection and serious diseases.
Jammu Police says that such checking campaigns will be intensified in the coming days, so that there remains fear among those violating food safety rules and common people can get safe food.
