Samvadsutra, Maner (Patna). After the incident of robbery and shooting of a gold businessman in Qazi Mohalla of Maner, anger has spread in the entire area. Angered by the incident, bullion traders and other traders have decided to keep their shops closed on Sunday. Businessmen say that the continuously increasing criminal incidents and lack of police patrolling have created an atmosphere of fear among the businessmen.
In protest against the incident, a meeting of businessmen of various organizations including the Bullion Business Committee was held at Vaish Dharamshala in Maner on Saturday morning.
After the meeting, all the businessmen unitedly reached Maner police station and handed over an ultimatum to the police demanding immediate arrest of the criminals.
During this, the businessmen accused the police of negligence and said that the police reached the spot about 40 minutes after the incident. If the police had arrived in time, the criminals could have been surrounded and caught.
Maner police station incharge Rajneesh Kumar assured the businessmen that all the criminals involved in the incident have been identified and several teams have been formed and raids are being conducted to arrest them.
He appealed to the businessmen to maintain peace and said that the security arrangements will be further strengthened. At the same time, police officers also made it clear that businessmen should avoid buying and selling stolen or suspicious jewelery so that they do not face any kind of legal trouble.
It is said that at the time of the incident, gold businessman Sanjay Kumar Soni was wearing a gold chain weighing about 20 grams. The criminals tried to snatch the chain from his neck.
During the snatching, the miscreants opened fire, injuring Sanjay Kumar. The robbers ran away with half the chain, while the other half remained around their neck.
After being shot, the injured businessman was first taken to Maner Community Health Center, from where he was referred for better treatment.
After this the relatives took him to Paras Hospital located in Raja Bazar. Doctors performed a successful operation late in the night and removed the bullet stuck near Sanjay Kumar's chest. At present his condition is said to be stable.
After this incident, there is huge anger among the traders of Maner. He says that the movement will continue until the criminals are arrested and there is concrete improvement in the security system. The traders have decided to draw the attention of the administration towards this serious problem by observing a symbolic bandh on Sunday.
