During Forest Minister's investigation, less than 20 percent plants were found in Tulagarhi plantation site, State Bureau, Lucknow. The state government has suspended Regional Forest Officer Buddha Priya Gautam, posted in the Mont Range of Mathura Forest Division, on charges of negligence in plantation.
He has been accused of not giving timely report of the damage caused at Tulagarhi Rajwah plantation site and not discharging his responsibilities. The plantation scam here was caught by Forest Minister Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena himself. He had given orders to immediately remove the Ranger and SDO.
The Forest Minister had visited here on 25 November. He had given instructions to inspect the Tulagarhi Rajwah plantation site. Despite this, the regional forest officer took him to another site. When the minister gave instructions again, he took him to that place. During inspection it was found that many plants have been destroyed here.
The plantations have suffered major damage due to the silt removal work of the Canal Department. According to the departmental report, information about this damage was not sent by Gautam to the higher officials in time, nor could they give a satisfactory answer during the inspection, which the department has considered as negligence, laxity and inaction.
The suspension orders have been issued by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Department Sunil Chaudhary. During the suspension period he has been attached to the Forestry Training Institute, Kanpur.
