Sports Desk, New Delhi. After the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh and Mustafizur Rahman being thrown out of the IPL, BCCI and Bangladesh Cricket Board have come face to face. Bangladesh has banned the telecast of IPL. Also, it has clearly refused to send its team to India for the T20 World Cup 2026. However, ICC rejected this demand of BCC.
Bangladesh cricket got a shock
Now Bangladesh cricket has suffered another blow. Bangladesh cricketers may soon be forced to change the sponsors of their bats. Indian sports equipment manufacturer SG has decided to end its relationship. All this is happening amid increasing cricket and diplomatic tensions between the two neighboring countries.
IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders dropped Bangladesh's leading bowler Mustafizur Rahman from its team on the instructions of BCCI. After the fast bowler was dropped from the team, the Bangladesh Cricket Board initially refused to give No Objection Certificate to Mustafizur to play in the IPL.
Apart from this, it also requested the ICC to shift the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 matches from India to Sri Lanka citing security reasons. Indian sports manufacturing company SG is currently the sponsor of top players of Bangladesh. This also includes their captain Liton Das. Apart from Das, Yasir Rabbi and Mominul Haq are also in this list.
Sponsorship may go away in the coming days
According to www.telecomasia.net, a Bangladesh cricketer said, "It seems that this is what is likely to happen in the coming days." This move of boycotting SG may cause huge losses to the sports industry of Bangladesh, as other manufacturing companies may also do the same. "I think other manufacturing companies may also choose not to sponsor our cricketers," a source close to player sponsorship told www.telecomasia.net.
