Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. E-rickshaws without fitness are plying on the roads of the district, due to which serious questions have been raised on the safety of passengers. According to Transport Department data, a total of 28,574 e-rickshaws are registered in the district, out of which the fitness period of 12,765 e-rickshaws has expired.

According to the rules, these vehicles are unsafe to drive on the road, yet they are seen carrying passengers from the narrow streets of the city to the major routes.

Accidents have happened many times due to technical flaws. Incidents like overturning of e-rickshaws and brake failure have come to light, but even after this, effective control could not be imposed on them. The situation is that there are hundreds of e-rickshaws whose registration is not registered in the RTO office.

Despite this, neither any intensive campaign was launched by the transport department nor the expected strictness was visible. In the race to get rides in busy areas, long queues of e-rickshaws form haphazardly, due to which there is a possibility of traffic jams and accidents.

In this regard, RTO enforcement Siyaram Verma says that checking campaigns are conducted daily and action is taken against vehicles found without fitness.

Fitness of more than four and a half thousand autos has also ended.

Not only e-rickshaws, the condition of autos is also worrying. According to departmental data, there are 7,597 autos registered in the district, out of which the fitness of 4,632 autos has expired. Such autos are also carrying passengers indiscriminately, which can cause an accident at any time.
