Jagran correspondent, Faridabad. The Municipal Corporation has prepared a SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) regarding water supplied in the city. Under this, 1500 tube wells of the corporation area will be examined.

The water of every tube well will be tested. If water is found contaminated, the tube well will be closed and alternative arrangements will be made. This pilot project has been started in Ward-46. The corporation will test the tube well water for about a week.

The corporation will prepare a database of water quality of all tube wells. It is noteworthy that taking a lesson from the Indore incident, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner had ordered to prepare SOP. For this, two executive engineers were appointed as nodal officers.

Now executive engineers have prepared the SOP. The executive engineer who prepared the SOP said that the team will do physical, chemical and TDS test of the water of all the tube wells. The test will reveal the current status of groundwater and whether the water is completely safe for use or not.

Water lines will also be checked

Under SOP, all SDOs and JEs have been instructed to repair leakage in water lines within 24 hours. Apart from this, if any line is very old then it should be replaced. The corporation claims that a health card will be made for every tube well.

After investigation, in areas where fluoride or other chemicals are found in excess in the supplied water, new tube wells or water treatment systems will be installed immediately. Based on the data, priority will also be given to replacing old and damaged pipes so that resources can be utilized properly.

A SOP has been prepared regarding the quality of water supplied from tube wells. Under this, a pilot project has been started in Ward-46. A complete database regarding water quality will be prepared in the next six months. Harish Kumar, Executive Engineer, Municipal Corporation
