Officials said that by adopting crop diversification, farmers can improve production as well as protect themselves from diseases. This method gives more benefits at less cost.

Organic farming will increase production capacity

Farmers were stressed on the use of organic fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers. It was told that applying organic fertilizer prepared from cow dung and cow urine in the fields increases the fertility of the soil and improves the production capacity of crops. Besides, this also reduces costs and keeps the environment safe.

Need to adopt crops that require less water

Describing water crisis as a serious problem, emphasis was laid on selection of crops that require less water. Speakers said that water shortage could become a big challenge for farming in the future. In such a situation, farmers were advised to cultivate potatoes, wheat and other crops with zero tillage technology.

Emphasis on use of modern equipment in harvesting

Agriculture officials said that currently most of the farmers harvest crops by hand, which takes more time and labour. With the use of modern harvesters and ripper machines, it is possible to harvest crops in less time, which will reduce costs and farmers will be able to sow other crops on time.

Will get direct benefits from government schemes

In the seminar, farmers were told that the government is continuously running schemes to promote the production of pulses and oilseed crops.

If farmers register on time, they will get the benefit of seeds, fertilizers and technical assistance. BDO Vivek Kumar Gaurav said that by taking advantage of the schemes, farmers can become financially prosperous.
