Jagran correspondent, Bhubaneswar. The list of holidays for the upcoming 2026 session has been published by the Directorate of Secondary Education. According to the list, a total of 82 days of holidays will be available except Sundays. However, Netaji Jayanti, Republic Day, Utkal Day, Independence Day, Ganesh Puja and Gandhi Jayanti included in the holiday list will be celebrated in schools. Therefore, these days students will have to go to school.
Similarly, keeping in mind the scorching heat, a total of 38 days of summer vacation has been fixed from May 6 to June 17. This period can also be extended later depending on the review of the situation. There will be holidays of 8 days each during Durga Puja and winter holidays.
Puja holiday will be from October 17 to October 26, while winter holiday will be from December 23 to December 31. Apart from this, 2 days local holiday will also be given with the permission of the District Education Officer.
Application period extended in Krishi Vidyanidhi Yojana
Krishi Vidyanidhi Yojana is an ambitious scholarship scheme of the state government. Department of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Government of Odisha is providing scholarship under Krishi Vidyanidhi Scheme to fulfill the dreams of higher education of children of all eligible beneficiaries covered under CM-Kisan Scheme. This scheme is proving to be a boon for their higher education.
The online application period of Krishi Vidyanidhi Yojana for the current academic year 2025-26 was fixed from 15 October to 30 November, but even after the last date of application, in view of the requests of a large number of students, it has been decided by the department to extend the period of online application and verification process.
According to the departmental decision, the last date for students to apply online has now been kept as 20th December. Similarly, the last date for verification of application forms at the level of educational institutions has been fixed as 25th December.
At the district level, the District Chief Agriculture Officer will approve the applications by 25 January 2026 and submit them for providing scholarships at the state level. The department has requested all eligible students to avail the benefits of Krishi Vidyanidhi Scheme.
