One Who Supplied Charas To Delhi, Mumbai And Goa For New Year Party Arrested, Accused Used To Travel By Train

Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The Crime Branch team has arrested a smuggler supplying charas. 2.760 kg of hashish has been recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Jamal Akhtar of Mumbai, Thane. It had procured charas from Himachal Pradesh to supply it to Delhi, Mumbai and Goa, especially for New Year parties.

Despite doing saree business, the accused started drug smuggling in the greed of earning more profits. The recovered charas was to be given to a drug supplier in Mumbai. After interrogating him, the police is busy searching for other accused involved in the gang.

According to Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh, based on secret information, a special team was formed under the supervision of ACP Sunil Srivastava, which continuously monitored the activities of the suspect and traced his location on the basis of technical and local inputs. According to the police, the accused was caught near Akshardham when he was present with the consignment of charas.

During the search, 2.760 kg of hashish was recovered from him. During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused used to bring charas from Himachal Pradesh and supply it in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa. Taking advantage of the increase in demand for drugs especially on the occasion of New Year, he used to smuggle drugs on a large scale. The accused told that he was associated with the saree business, but in the greed of earning more money quickly, he got into the drug smuggling business.

Investigation also revealed that the accused used very clever methods to escape from the police. After reaching Delhi, he would stay for a few days, then go to Himachal Pradesh and on his return stay in Chandigarh. He traveled by train instead of private buses and used a different name to hide his identity. By analyzing all these possible routes and activities, the Crime Branch team succeeded in catching him.
