Samvad Sutra, Gonda. BSNL is laying optical fiber cables from village to village to provide high speed internet service in 2002 villages of Gonda and Balrampur districts. He has given the responsibility of this ambitious project of about Rs 200 crore to the Railway Development Corporation, which is busy completing the work by 31 May 2026.

After laying the optical fiber cable, high speed internet services will be provided to the block, school, hospital and police station by providing them fiber connections. Not only this, rural consumers will also be able to avail the benefit of high speed internet by taking a connection for about Rs 300 per month. It has started first from Mujehna and Rehra block, after which work will start at other places also.

After digitalization of online application forms and other services including banking, villagers are not getting their full benefits. The reason is that due to poor condition of internet in villages, the server always remains down, due to which people have to run to the headquarters again and again. Not only this, children, women and elderly people are also facing problems due to the server being down every day. Some are not able to fill the examination form and some are running for pension. They have to get their school enrollment exams and forms filled and other important tasks done through private cyber cafes. To complete their work online in government offices, employees have to take the help of NIC or cyber café, which costs more money and labour. There is also a fear of breach of confidentiality. In view of these problems, the government has started preparations to improve internet services in rural areas.

Work started in Mujehna of Gonda and Rehra of Balrampur

BSNL and Railway Vikas Nigam together are laying optical fiber at various places including Tendua Ramcharan of Mujehna block of Gonda district and Rehra Bazaar of Balrampur. Besides, cable is to be laid to 1214 villages of 16 blocks of Gonda and 788 villages of nine blocks of Balrampur, after which affordable internet services will be available in rural areas. Its benefits will first be given to Panchayat buildings, schools, Anganwadi centres, health temples, blocks, hospitals and police stations, after which villagers will be able to avail the benefits by taking connections.
