However, before this match, the government of Pakistan has taken a big decision and decided to boycott the match. Pakistan has decided that they will not play the match against India in the T20 World Cup 2026. In such a situation, what loss is this going to cause to ICC?

The government of Pakistan announced that they will not play the match against India. Let us tell you that earlier Bangladesh had refused to play T20 World Cup in India, after which ICC showed them the way out of the tournament and Scotland was given a chance in place of Bangladesh. Now Pakistan has announced to boycott the match against India to support Bangladesh.

Following Bangladesh's exclusion, the Pakistan Cricket Board had threatened to withdraw its name from the tournament. However, he did not do so and has decided not to play against India now. A meeting was held between Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, after which this decision was taken.

How much loss will ICC incur?

ICC will not suffer any direct loss due to Pakistan boycotting the match against India. ICC has already sold the media rights and in such a situation they will not have to suffer any kind of loss. However, broadcasters pay huge amount to ICC for media rights due to India-Pakistan match and in such a situation they can demand compensation from ICC for the loss. One India-Pakistan match alone earns about 10% of the total revenue of the tournament.

These teams have boycotted before also

Pakistan is not the first country which will participate in the World Cup but has boycotted the match against any team. Earlier, Australia and West Indies had refused to play against Sri Lanka in 1996 due to security reasons. Apart from this, in the 2003 World Cup, England refused to play against Zimbabwe and New Zealand refused to play against Kenya. However, he took part in the remaining matches of the tournament and now Pakistan has decided not to play the match against India to support Bangladesh.
