Jagran correspondent, Pakur. After a long and tiring wait of three days, the candidates trying their luck in the Pakur Municipal Council elections were eagerly waiting for Friday morning. That time came and at eight in the morning the counting of votes started in the counting hall built in Pakur Bazaar Committee.
42 tables made for counting of votes
The administration has completed all preparations to conduct the counting of votes in a fair and peaceful manner. Strict security arrangements have been made at the counting centre. Only authorized agents are being allowed entry. For quick and error-free counting of votes, the district administration has made 42 tables for 42 polling stations in 21 wards.
In the first round, votes of ward councilors will be counted, while in the second round, votes for the post of president will be counted. Both the phases will be completed in one round each. The results of ward councilors will start coming after 10 am, while the result for the post of president is likely to be declared by 1 pm.
Fate of 10 candidates for president and 89 candidates for ward councilor decided
10 candidates are in the fray for the post of Municipal Council President, while a total of 89 candidates are in the fray for the post of Ward Councilor in 21 wards. A contest is being considered between the 'Three S' for the post of President, although according to sources, the main contest is likely to be between two candidates. Here in many wards, there is a tough competition for the post of councilor, because some candidates are considered to be strong contenders for the post of vice president also.
