Prados Vrat 2026: Recitation of Pradosh Vrat Katha.
Religion Desk, New Delhi. Pradosh Vrat has great religious significance in Hindu religion. This fast is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is observed on Trayodashi tithi of every month. According to astrology and mythological beliefs, the worship of Pradosh Vrat is not considered complete until the story of Pradosh Vrat (Pradosh Vrat 2026) is recited. This year this holy fast is being observed today i.e. on 30 January 2026, so let us recite the Pradosh Vrat Katha, which is as follows -

According to the legend, once upon a time a poor Brahmin became penniless after the death of her husband. She lived her life by begging along with her son. One day, while returning from begging, he met the prince of Vidarbha country, who had been expelled from his father's kingdom. The Brahmin brought the prince home with her and started raising him like her own son. One day that Brahmin woman was observing Pradosh fast with her sons and went to Shiva temple.
There he met Sage Shandilya. The sage told the Brahmin the glory of Pradosh fast and the method of worshiping Shiva. The Brahmin followed the fast and recited the story as per the advice of the sage with full devotion. After some time, the Gandharva prince was playing with the girls when he met the Gandharva princess Anshumati. Both of them became fascinated with each other.
When Anshumati's father came to know that he was the prince of Vidarbha, he married both of them. After this the prince regained his father's lost kingdom with the help of Gandharva army. The prince called the Brahmin and her son to his palace and gave them a lot of money and removed their poverty.
Due to the influence of Brahmini's Pradosh fast, the prince got his kingdom and Brahmini's son also got comforts and facilities. Since then, it is believed that whoever reads this story of Pradosh Vrat, poverty and sorrows are eliminated from his life.
Do this work after the story
After the conclusion of the story, perform Aarti of Lord Shiva and chant the mantra 'Om Namah Shivay'. After this, offer white sweets or kheer to Lord Shiva and distribute it as Prasad. In the end, do pray for forgiveness.
