Ashish Chaurasia, Greater Noida. The matter of allegations of rigging in teacher appointment and students' fees in Gautam Buddha University is not showing any signs of stopping. Questions are being raised regarding the appointment of Dr. Uttam Kumar to the post of Deputy Registrar posted in the university.
District President of SP Student Assembly Mohit Nagar alleges that along with being appointed to the post of Professor, Dr. Uttam Kumar has been made the Deputy Registrar of the University. This deployment has been done against the rules. On Monday, Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha officials demonstrated at the main gate of the university and submitted a memorandum on rigging in the appointment and fees of teachers.
What is the whole matter?
Mohit Nagar alleges that Dr. Uttam Kumar is a professor in the Department of Geography and he has been posted as Professor in the University under the Department of Sociology. Whereas the Geography department is not functioning in the university. Along with being appointed as Professor, he has been given the additional charge of Deputy Registrar.
It is alleged that during the probation period of any newly appointed professor, no additional post can be given to a person without experience in the post. He is undergoing a probation period of one year for his appointment to the post of professor in the university. Contrary to the norms, he has been given the additional charge of Deputy Registrar.
The complainant says that Dr. Uttam Pal had earlier been working in the Geography Department in MH Degree College, Ghaziabad. It is alleged that Dr. Uttam was the hostel junior of a high official of GBU. Even though there was no Geography department in the university, he was appointed to the Sociology department.
Allegations have been made that how will he teach in a department of which he is not a professor. The rules given in the ordinance issued for appointment have to be followed, but the rules have not been followed in their appointment.
Appointment can be done according to these rules
If a professor of a department is appointed without running the department, then before that the university has to apply to the Academic Council for running that department. Whereas allegations are being made that Dr. Uttam Kumar has been appointed without applying for running the Geography Department in GBU. Along with the post of Professor, he has also been given the additional charge of Deputy Registrar, which is against the rules.
The University is working towards development in the fields of education, research, skill development, startup and academic-industry collaboration. All the schools of the University are exploring new measures and possibilities to encourage participation in this direction. The process of establishment and operation of Atal Incubation Center under the Startup initiative is in progress. All appointments in the university are being made as per the rules of the University Grants Commission (UGC). In which experienced and qualified professors are selected.
