Samajwadi Party made Sujit Singh its candidate in Ghosi assembly by-election of Mau district.
State Bureau, Jagran, Lucknow: Samajwadi Party has laid the groundwork to strengthen its preparations for victory in the Ghosi Assembly by-election of Mau district.
Samajwadi Party has made Sudhakar Singh's son Sujit Singh its candidate on the seat vacant after his death. It is believed that this step of Samajwadi Party will be a challenge for BJP. By-election in Ghosi is possible by April 2026.
Sudhakar Singh of Samajwadi Party had won the Ghosi by-election held after Dara Singh Chauhan, who joined BJP from Samajwadi Party, vacated the seat. Now after the demise of late MLA Sudhakar Singh, by-election is once again proposed here, for which Samajwadi Party has declared late Sudhakar's son Sujit Singh as its candidate. Sudhakar Singh, who defeated Dara Singh Chauhan, has a strong hold in Ghosi, which may make Sujit's path easier.
Samajwadi Party's National General Secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav has announced to make Sudhakar Singh's son Sujit Singh the party candidate. Sudhakar Singh, MLA from Ghosi, died on November 20, 2025 at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow.
Sujit Kumar is a young leader and after the death of his father, his political command has now fallen on his shoulders. His father's service and popularity among the public made Sujit Singh enter politics at a very young age. Sujit became the block chief from Ghosi of Mau in the year 2015 and his popularity made him the district president of the block chief association.
Sudhakar Singh had defeated BJP candidate Dara Singh Chauhan in the by-election held in 2024 on Ghosi seat. Sudhakar Singh, a three-time MLA, was considered a staunch socialist leader. He started politics in the 1970s itself. Before Ghosi, Sudhakar Singh was once an MLA from Madhuban Assembly. After this, he was MLA from Ghosi seat twice.
