Samastipur will get another magnificent bridge in 2026, connectivity will increase till Darbhanga (Jagran)
Jagran correspondent, Samastipur. The much awaited bridge being built between Hakimabad and Nagarbasti on Budhi Gandak river is likely to be ready by the end of the year. The bridge construction work is progressing rapidly and all the pillars have been erected. At present the construction work of the super structure of the bridge is going on.
The construction work of this important project is being done by Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited. According to officials, a target has been set to complete the work within the stipulated time frame, so that it can be opened to the general public as soon as possible.
The completion of the bridge will provide great relief to the people of Hakimabad, Nagarbasti and surrounding areas. This bridge will prove to be very convenient especially for the travelers going to Darbhanga. Currently, people have to take alternative and longer routes, which wastes both time and fuel.
The construction of the bridge will ease traffic, promote business activities and also reduce the traffic pressure of the city. This bridge, awaited for years, has now taken shape and with its completion by the end of the year, Samastipur is expected to get a new connectivity.
This bridge being built on the Budhi Gandak river will have 11 payas. Earlier, there was a proposal of 9 feet for the construction of this bridge, but due to the increase of two feet in between, the length of the bridge has now become 400 meters. Earlier it was 336 meters long. About Rs 47 crore will be spent on the construction.
The construction of this bridge will facilitate transportation in more than five dozen villages. At the same time, the population of two lakhs of Warisnagar and Jitwarpur blocks will get direct benefit from it.
Farmers who reached the market committee got more benefits:
It will be easier for the farmers of Ujiarpur and Angarghat areas to reach the vegetable market located at Mathurapur Ghat. Currently, farmers have to pass through the city to reach the market. One has to face road jam during day time. After the opening of the same bridge, they will be able to easily reach Mathurapur directly.
Apart from this, people going from Begusarai to Darbhanga will also go directly to Muktapur via Jitwarpur-Ilmasnagar-Mannipur without entering the city. This will reduce the distance by about 15 kilometers.
Bridge construction work is going on at a fast pace. Superstructure work is in progress. Besides, the work on the two pillars which started later is also going on. If all things are completed on time, the construction of the bridge will be completed by the end of this year. - Bhanu Singh, Engineer, Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation
