More than 66 magistrates and police officers deployed at 44 places on Saraswati Puja

To maintain peace and harmony on Saraswati Puja (Vasant Panchami), District Magistrate Dr. Thiagarajan SM and SSP Karthikeya K Sharma have issued a joint order on Wednesday. The officer duo said that ensuring law and order, crowd control and traffic management during the puja is the top priority of the administration. For this, strong administrative arrangements have been made for all three phases before, during and immersion of the puja.

For this, more than 66 magistrates and police officials have been deployed at the district level, at the district headquarters and at 44 major places nearby. Quick Response Team (QRT) will also be deployed at sensitive sites. Adequate number of armed forces, women force and lathi force will be there along with magistrates and police officials. In the District Control Room also, 24 magistrates have been kept in reserve in three shifts.

All SDOs and SDPOs have been instructed to depute magistrates and police forces as per requirement in their respective areas. If DJ is completely banned, loudspeakers can also be played only from 6 am to 10 pm. Idols and decorative items will not be immersed in rivers, for this artificial ponds have been created on the ghats.

Investigation of hostels, hotels and lodges, order for flag march

DM and SSP said that all the officers should remain alert and ready and immediately refute any kind of rumor by keeping peace committee meetings, social media monitoring, intelligence system active. SDO and SDPO should take effective action to control the activities of hostel students. Along with this, regularly check hotels, lodges and hostels. While constantly travelling, keep an eye on suspicious activities.

Police officers have been given the responsibility to ensure that no pandals or immersion processions are held without a license and to ensure strict compliance with the licensing rules. The magistrate will monitor the immersion journey through CCTV along with videography. CCTV will be mandatory in big pandals. Magistrates and police officers will also be deployed at the artificial pond ghats.

Patrol teams will accompany the procession, it will be monitored with drones. Quick Response Team (QRT) and Quick Medical Response Team (QMRT) will be deployed to deal with emergencies. Strict action will be taken against those who violate the Prohibition Act.

Any suspicious information can be given to the District Control Room (0612-2219810 and 2219234) or dial 112. Strict action will be taken against those spreading rumours. Mutual communication should be strengthened by keeping a list of about 20 workers of the puja committee and forming a WhatsApp group.

There is a ban on objectionable slogans, cartoons and fireworks during the puja. Boat operations will be prohibited on Ganga and other rivers. SDRF and NDRF teams will be deployed to deal with contingencies during immersion.
