Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. Delhi Government has appointed Shikhar Dhawan, who has represented India in international cricket, as the brand ambassador of the upcoming Delhi Khel Mahakumbh. This event is starting from 13 February 2026, in which thousands of young players from the capital will showcase their talent.
Education Minister Ashish Sood and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta gave this information after meeting Shikhar Dhawan. Ashish Sood said that impressed by the serious commitment of the Delhi government towards sports, Shikhar Dhawan himself has come forward and accepted this responsibility. He said that the addition of an inspirational player like Dhawan will become a source of confidence and new energy for the youth of Delhi.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also expressed her gratitude to Shikhar Dhawan for his cooperation and said that his experience and guidance will inspire the players of Delhi to move forward at the national and international level. The government is committed to providing every possible platform and opportunity to the youth adopting sports as a career.
Former cricketer Shikhar Dhawan said on this occasion that Delhi has been his birthplace and it is a matter of pride for him to do something for this soil. He assured that he will fully cooperate in encouraging the players and taking them forward during the Khel Mahakumbh.
