Villagers forced to fetch water from 3 km away
Communication Assistant, Dehri on Son (Rohtas). For the people of ward number one of Telkap Panchayat of Rohtas block, the water of Son river flowing three kilometers away has become a source of survival. Departmental officials are saying that proper drinking water system will be available here.
Whereas former PACS president Suresh Singh Yadav and Panchayat head Anita Toppo said that 15 years ago, water was supplied from the water tank of Rasulpur village. But during the construction of NH 119, the pipeline got destroyed and the Chief Minister's ambitious tap water scheme has not even been started.
Water up to 80 feet deep is fluoridated
An estimate was made a year ago to lift water from Son river to the village, but till now tap water has not been available. Villagers Anil Kushwaha, Dharamu Paswan, Pawan Kumar say that they are forced to bring drinking water on bicycle from Son river, three kilometers away.
In this village, water up to 80 feet deep is contaminated with fluoride, which is poisonous for health. When PPCL company was running, the company used to supply water to the village from Son river due to fluoride. Till date there is no tap water in this ward.
Raised the issue seriously in the assembly
Only three days ago, local MLA Murari Gautam raised this issue seriously in the Assembly. Regarding this, a three-member investigation team of officers has been formed and the matter has been investigated.
Regarding the matter, RTI activist Amardeep Kumar had sought information from the Public Information Officer under Right to Information about the installation of tap water a year ago. They say that drinking water from hand pump causes skin diseases and knee pain. Complaints about this have also been lodged several times in memorandums to officials and public representatives.
Junior Engineer Abu Bakar says that the public representatives are not allowing boring in the village. They say that drinking water should be made available by lifting it from the Son River. That is why the matter is pending. They say that it is costing more to bring water by lifting it from the Son River. About which the department has been informed.
