Jagran correspondent, Badaun. Last year, due to frequent accidents in the district, the government had given instructions to reduce them. Since then many campaigns are being run continuously. So that accidents and mortality rates can be reduced. Now the traffic department is claiming that in the last three months the death rate has reduced by 51 percent and accidents have reduced by 29 percent.

But if we talk only about the month of February, every day one life was lost in accidents while two to three people were injured. Five people died in road accidents in the district between Thursday night and Friday morning at 9 am. Now once again preventing accidents and deaths resulting from them has become a matter of concern.

If we talk about road accidents and deaths in the district, this figure is increasing every year. From the district administration to the government are worried about this. Last year, when the Chief Minister held a meeting to reduce the number of road accidents and deaths, Badaun was at 18th position among the top 20 districts of the state.

Expressing concern about this, the CM had given instructions to bring improvements in it. After this, the work of reducing black spots in the district, carrying out safety work on roads, forming special teams to prevent accidents etc. was started. 11 critical care teams were formed in the district.

After every accident, after detailed inspection of the incident site, they started searching for the cause of those accidents. In this regard, protective work was also done at many places. After this, the Traffic Department and the Transport Department claim that in November, December and January there has been a 29 percent reduction in accidents, while there has been a 51 percent reduction in deaths.

But if we look at the figures of the entire five years, we will find that in these five years, 2192 people died in road accidents. Now, when accidents started again in February, questions are being asked as to how these will be reduced. In the last 12 hours in the district, three lives were lost in Ughaiti, one each in Musazhag and Civil Lines police station area.
