The miscreant, who injured a woman and her two innocent children with a knife and snatched away a goat on Saturday, January 3, outside Jamalpur Madhi village of Ajgain, had an encounter with the police at 1:20 pm on Monday night. The criminal was injured by a bullet in his right leg, while his two associates were chased and caught by the police. The injured criminal has already gone to jail in a robbery case.
Urmila, wife of Rajneesh, resident of Jamalpur Madhi village of Ajgain, was grazing goats outside the village on January 3. Innocent daughter Ritika and son Hrithik were also with her. At around four in the evening, three youths arrived on a white bike and started lifting a goat. When the woman protested, she was attacked on the head with a knife. When the children ran to save them, they injured their hands by attacking them with a knife. The police were searching for the miscreants after registering a report based on the woman's complaint.

When Ajgain police, who were checking vehicles at Usra turn, tried to stop the bike, the miscreants opened fire on the police. While saving himself, one miscreant was injured in police retaliatory firing while two others were chased and caught. The injured criminal revealed his name as Vikas Gupta, son of Parmeshwar, resident of village Khasarwara Banthara, Lucknow.
The second one revealed his name as Lakshmi Narayan, son of Ramswaroop, resident of Hindukheda, Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow and the third one revealed his name as Sanjay Rawat, son of Chhotalal, resident of Harauni Banthara, Lucknow. Police have recovered a bike, a knife from the miscreants and a goat snatched from the woman on their watch. The injured criminal has been admitted to CHC Nawabganj. CO Arvind Chaurasia said that another case of attack on police is being registered against the accused.
