Traditional Farming Methods Changed In Uttar Pradesh Through Technology And Innovation, World Bank President Ajay Banga Praised

Under the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, UP becomes first in ethanol production.

Digital Desk, Lucknow. There has been a fundamental change in the agriculture sector in Uttar Pradesh in the last eight and a half years under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The state government has not only improved farming but also extended its benefits to every village by connecting it with knowledge, technology, consultation and market access. Digital and scientific innovations in areas like crop management, seed selection, soil health cards, natural farming, drone spray and modern irrigation have not only made farming safe but have also increased production and income of farmers by reducing costs.

It is noteworthy that this excellent model of Uttar Pradesh has also been appreciated by World Bank President Ajay Banga. Praising the agricultural transformation journey of Yogi Adityanath government of the state, he said that Uttar Pradesh has presented a world class model by connecting agriculture with modernity.

Government access to technology, innovation and crops

Yogi Adityanath's government of the state has launched a comprehensive training campaign to move farmers towards scientific and smart farming, in which young farmers and women farmer producer groups were especially involved. A consultation system was established in every village with agricultural scientists and departmental experts, due to which solutions to questions related to crop diseases, water, fertilizer and market are being made available directly on the farm in an impact-based manner.

Drone-spray, automatic irrigation system, digital monitoring of soil nutrients and digital survey system of fields have given efficiency like modern industry to the agriculture sector. Initiatives like quick settlement of crop insurance claims, online mandis and e-NAM have provided fair prices and a wide market to farmers.

Strong agricultural infrastructure becomes the basis of ethanol revolution

Record payments to sugarcane farmers, establishment of new sugar mills, capacity addition and UP's top position in the country in ethanol production reflect the farmer-centric thinking of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Irrigation projects, “Water to every Farm” mission, Ken-Betwa link in Bundelkhand and campaigns like tap water in every house have strengthened crop irrigation and drinking water supply in both Kharif and Rabi seasons. In this context, expansion of rural roads, storage, mandis and cold chain network has given the power of industry to agriculture.

At the same time, the government has also taken decisive steps towards transforming farmers from “producers to entrepreneurs” by encouraging FPOs, agri-drone operators and organic farming, which are showing their impact on the ground. It is noteworthy that recently the World Bank and the state government have jointly started the 'UP Agris' project, the objective of which is to strengthen the agricultural system in the state technically and financially. This project is expected to directly benefit about 10 lakh small and marginal farmers.

World Bank President Ajay Banga said that the agricultural model of Uttar Pradesh is very good for everyone including small farmers. This is not just a theory, but the ground reality which I have seen with my own eyes.
