Exciting matches took place in different weight categories on Thursday, the second day of the three-day state level senior men's wrestling competition going on at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Sports Stadium, Sonakpur. In which the finals of these weight categories were completed on the first day.
The wrestlers of host Moradabad dominated on the first day. In the second day's matches, wrestlers from Meerut Hostel and Varanasi performed strongly and maintained their dominance by winning medals in many categories.
Finals of 57, 61 matches were held on the first day
In 57 kg freestyle, Rishabh of Moradabad won the gold medal by defeating Arsh Khan of Moradabad. Arsh Khan got silver medal. Kamlesh Yadav of Mirzapur and Abhishek Kumar of Saharanpur jointly stood third. Who were honored with bronze medals.
In the 61 kg weight category, Sunny Bhardwaj of Gorakhpur won the first gold medal by defeating Abhishek of Moradabad in a tough match. Abhishek Moradabad got silver medal. While Amar Yadav of Azamgarh and Ashutosh Pal of Varanasi stood third. Who were given bronze medals.
On the second day, competitions were held in 70, 74 and 79 kg weight categories.
In 70 kg, Ali Mohammad won the gold medal by defeating Anil Yadav of Varanasi. Anil Yadav got silver medal. Mohd. of Moradabad. Javed and Akash Yadav of Kanpur stood third. Who were honored with bronze medals.
In 74 kg, Mulayam Yadav of Varanasi won the first position by defeating Shivdhar Yadav of Kanpur and was given the gold medal. Shivdhar Yadav stood second and was awarded the silver medal. While Rajneesh from Agra and Pankaj Pal from Prayagraj secured third position. Who were honored with bronze medals.
In 79 kg, Ashish Yadav of Meerut Hostel won the gold medal by defeating Zahid Hashmi of Kanpur. Shabi Khan of Moradabad and Vishal Yadav of Varanasi stood third. Was honored with a bronze medal.
Entered the finals by winning the competition in 65 weight categories
Semi-final matches were played in other weight categories including 65 kg. In 65 kg category, Ravindra from Moradabad and Ajay Pal from Gorakhpur entered the finals. The remaining matches continued till late night.
Teams from 16 divisions took part
Teams from 16 out of 18 divisions of the state participated in the competition. Wrestlers from Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Bareilly, Varanasi, Basti, Mirzapur, Gonda, Azamgarh, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur and Meerut divisions showed their strength in different weight categories.
In the event, Sports Officer Sunil Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association, Dr. Ajay Pathak, Joint Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association Rajkumar Mishra, Secretary, District Wrestling Association Pawan Kumar, Bir Singh Yadav, Dinesh Kumar Singh were also present. The jury of the competition included Ram Sajan Yadav, Ravi Kumar, Aadesh Kumar, Sunil Yadav, Vishal Yadav, Rishi Shwet Singh, Abhishek Upadhyay etc.
