Uproar For Four Hours Over Installation Of Caste Specific Board In Saharanpur, Tension Before Ravidas Jayanti

Jagran correspondent, Saharanpur. There was a ruckus for four hours over the installation of objectionable boards addressed to a particular caste on an electric pole in Redi Mustahkam village of Fatehpur police station area. The board was captured in the presence of police from four police stations. One side also had an altercation with the police.

A procession is to be organized in the village on February 2 to commemorate Ravidas Jayanti. When some people of the village wanted to put an objectionable board on one side and a board written 'Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj' on the cement pillar standing on the roadside, the people of other castes of the village opposed it.

On receiving information about the installation of the board, the police arrived with JCB and stopped the board from being installed on the government pole without permission. During this time the villagers also had an altercation with the police. The police chased the people away with batons.

After this, when the villagers tried to remove the board from the government pole and put it on an iron pole in the ground nearby, the police gave strict instructions. CO Munish Chandra arrived with police from four police stations.

When the police took possession of the board, the villagers created ruckus and sat on the road to the village. Bhim Army workers reached the spot and protested. After a lot of uproar, the matter was calmed down when it was agreed to install the board at the residence.
