What Is She-Box Portal And How Does It Protect Women? Union Minister Annapurna Devi Gave Information

Annapurna Devi said- Women's safety is the top priority of the government.

Mala Dixit, New Delhi. Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi said on Saturday, February 14 that women's safety is the top priority of the government. Respect for women is the first step towards the development of society and nation.

Annapurna Devi further said, 'Today women are at the center of policies. Their participation in the decision process is continuously increasing. Emphasizing on the safety of women at the workplace, he said that the government aims to ensure that every workplace is safe, sensitive and full of equal opportunities.

Government's commitment to women's safety

Annapurna Devi said, 'The safety of women at the workplace and their active participation is the commitment of the government to achieve the grand goal of a developed India by 2047.'

Speaking at the program, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur said that progress of any country is possible only when women remain safe and work with dignity.

Speaking at the launch of the National Conference on Safety of Women at Workplace (SHE-BOX) held at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi, Annapurna Devi said that India is going through unprecedented transformation, which is opening up new opportunities for women.

Annapurna Devi further said, 'The Prime Minister's vision of women-led development has given new dimensions to the country's development model. A holistic approach to women empowerment has been adopted, focusing on safety, equal opportunity, dignity and participation.

Highlighting the safety of women at workplace, Annapurna Devi said that the Ministry of Women and Child Development, as the nodal ministry for the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, is working to ensure that institutions comply with the law.

He said that the She-Box portal, launched on August 29, 2024, has strengthened the redressal mechanism for complaints of harassment of women at the workplace. Nearly 1.5 lakh government and private organizations have registered on this platform, which shows the increasing awareness and sensitivity towards women's safety.

More budget allocation for gender equality

More budget has been allocated to gender equality and the government is expanding support systems, including hostels, to ensure greater participation of women in the workforce.

The objective of this National Conference is to reaffirm the Government's commitment towards creating safe, dignified, and harassment-free workplaces in all sectors and to strengthen the implementation of the Prohibition and Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act 2013.

For this, She Box portal has been directly linked to all government and private institutions. Every government and non-government organization will be registered on the portal.

The internal committee or local committee related to registering the complaint on the portal will directly reach the person to whom the complaint has been made and the mechanism for its monitoring has also been strengthened.

About 1500 representatives from more than 100 organizations participated in this conference. Many dignitaries and officials including MPs like Sudhanshu Trivedi, Rekha Sharma, Lovely Anand were present in the conference.
