DRS rules for T20 World Cup
There has been no change in the Duckworth-Lewis rule for the T20 World Cup 2026. Each team will be allowed to use 2 DRS during the innings, which is already implemented in international cricket. Apart from this, the third umpire can continue the investigation until he is completely satisfied. Apart from this, there has been no change in the rules of ball tracking and when the umpire calls, the batsman will be considered out.
There has been no change in the rules of no-ball. The old rules will remain applicable in T20 World Cup 2026 also. No-ball investigation will be done by the third umpire only, which is the rule in practice even before the tournament. Apart from this, there is no change regarding the rules of free hit. After a no-ball, the next ball will be a free hit. If the batsman does not change the strike, no changes can be made in the fielding.
Strictness regarding slow-over rate
The ICC had recently made some changes in the rules to improve the slow-over rate, which will also be applicable in the T20 World Cup 2026. To save time, ICC had implemented the stop-clock rule in white ball cricket. According to this rule, the bowling team will have to start the next over within 60 seconds after the end of the over.
If any team is violating this rule, it will be warned by the umpire. However, even after this, if the team does not correct its mistake, then a penalty of 5 runs will be imposed on them. Apart from this, fines will also be imposed on the teams.
