MP Arun Govil demanding a uniform security policy for installing CCTV in mosques in the Lok Sabha. Hundred. Representative

Jagran correspondent, Meerut. MP Arun Govil raised the question that why all religious schools and educational institutions in India are not being treated equally from the security point of view? CCTVs are installed in all temples, gurudwaras and schools in India. Asked if CCTV can be installed in Mecca then why not in mosques and madrassas of India. Raising this question in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, he proposed to make a uniform national security policy.

He said that CCTV cameras strengthen security, transparency and crime prevention system. In case of any untoward incident, they play an important role in investigation and prevention. Expressing concern, Govil said that this system is not yet implemented in mosques, whereas mosques are also public places, where a large number of people come every day. In such a situation, it is as important to follow safety standards as it is in other public places.

He noted that it is completely normal to install cameras for security purposes at religious places, including the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, and mosques and madrassas in many Muslim countries. There should be no reason to hesitate in implementing modern security standards in India too when security systems have been widely adopted there. Said that this proposal is not against any religion, community or belief, but it is an issue related to the security, peace and wider interest of 140 crore people of the country.
